A Waddle is coming to our city…

A trail of at least 40 penguins will be on display through the streets and public spaces of Worcester City, for everyone to enjoy, during an 8 week period from Monday 22nd July – Sunday 15th September 2024. We would love for you to submit a design and get involved!

Our policy is to work closely with the local arts and culture sectors so the event truly reflects Worcester’s cultural identity. A core principle is to make the great Waddle of Worcester inclusive and participatory and we are really excited to invite all artists, amateur or professional, whatever their level of experience, to help us huddle together for the county of Worcestershire in 2024.

The penguin sculpture is a 3d canvas and therefore versatile – it will hold every conceivable medium of art from fine art to graffiti, new media, mosaic to metalwork.

Submissions for the Artist Programme have now closed

Over the coming weeks, all design submissions will be reviewed as part of the selection process, to choose which wonderful designs will decorate our big penguins for the trail.

There are two stages to the selection process;

  • Stage 1: the initial submissions will be shortlisted to 120 designs. Artists will be notified if their designs have been shortlisted to stage 2.
  • Stage 2: Sculpture sponsors will attend a selection event, where they will select their chosen design to adorn their sculpture.

Successful Artists will be notified following the Selection Event, which will take place in March 2024.
