Description
Meet Picasso Penguin, the most colourful, creative penguin you’ll ever see. With his artist’s smock, jaunty beret and odd socks (he can never find a matching pair), he’s much happier getting covered in paint than getting his feet wet, though he’ll never say no to a fish or two!

20. The Arches
The Arches is a new cultural destination for the city.
Five of the beautiful Victorian railway arches have recently been be redeveloped into affordable studio and office space for local artists, creatives and performers. These arches take their place alongside a thriving community of local businesses, restaurants, and cafes creating a new destination for the local community and tourists visiting Worcester.
The five newly developed arches adjacent to the Hive have now all been leased to local creative organisations that provide space, support, services and inspiration to the local arts and creative communities.
Alongside the four tenanted arches, there is also a fifth arch, Arch 27, which has been designed as a flexible space for performances, rehearsals, pop-up galleries, events, workshops and exhibitions.
Plans are also underway to create a footpath joining Worcester Foregate street, directly opposite the train station, to the path that follows the arches all the way past the university, the Hive, and down to the river. This will bring even more footfall to this growing and thriving part of town.
In January 2019 the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport awarded more than £3m from the Cultural Development Fund, which is administered by Arts Council England, towards the costs of The Arches, Worcester.
The project is being delivered by Worcester Cultural Partnership which is made up of:
– Worcester City Council
– The University of Worcester
– Severn Arts
– The Arch Co
– Worcestershire County Council
The Arches project, including management of the tenancies of redeveloped arches as well as the management of Arch 27 as a hireable space is managed by The Kiln Management Services Ltd.
