FAQs

What items do you need for the Waddle shop?

We would love to stock our ‘crafters corner’ and ‘Christmas’ section of the pop-up shop with all things ‘penguin’.

Cuddlies are hugely popular, along with themed fabric bags and aprons, however we would be grateful for any and all quality handmade items, that could have a ‘penguin’ theme.

Where do I take my handmade items when they are finished?

We can accept delivery of your crafted penguins and accessories anytime between now and July 2024, at St Richard’s Hospice, Wildwood Drive, Worcester WR5 2QT, alternatively, you can drop them at any of our hospice shops. Check our shops pages for opening times.

Please bag up your items and mark for the attention of: Sara Matthews – Waddle of Worcester – St Richard’s Hospice and remember to include your contact details inside, so we can thank you for your invaluable contribution.

When can I start making penguins for the Waddle?

Now! We have plenty of storage to look after the penguins, until we open the shop in July 2024, so we can keep them safe until then. We will still be accepting donations of crafted goods during the trail period (22nd July 2024 – Sunday 15th September 2024).

When and where will these crafted items be available to purchase?

During the trail period; Monday 22nd July – Sunday 15th September 2024, we will host a city centre shop with all-things penguin. This will be Penguin HQ and the main information point for anything relating to the trail and the penguins.

The shop will stock trail maps, activity booklets, official merchandise, raffle tickets along with all the wonderful crafted items, lovingly handmade my our wonderful community.

Location of the penguin shop will follow nearer the time.

How do these handmade items help St Richard’s Hospice?

These lovingly crafted, handmade creations will be sold in our pop-up shop during the trail period, raising funds towards the care provided by St Richard’s Hospice.

How penguins power patient care

The great Waddle of Worcester is being brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice. At the end of the trail, each big penguin and one chick will be auctioned to raise money for the charity’s free care to patients, loved ones and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

The charity has delivered two previous, hugely popular Wild in Art trails; Worcester Stands Tall, in summer 2018, and Worcester’s Big Parade, in summer 2021, which combined raised more than £700,000 for the care of patients and families.
