A Worcestershire-based business which creates frozen bakery products is bringing a frosty friend to the streets of Worcester this summer.
Vandemoortele Worcester is part of the Vandemoortele Group which collectively offers a wide range of frozen bread products, pastry, sweet treats, patisserie and savoury products throughout Europe for professional users in the bakery and foodservice channels as well as for retailers, who appreciate the quality and convenience of Vandemoortele’s products.
Vandemoortele Worcester, initially founded in 1991 to supply unbaked frozen pastry products to the UK market and currently remain the only UK manufacturer to fulfil large-scale, pre-proofed frozen Viennoiserie for the wholesale market, is to sponsor one of 80 penguins in the great Waddle of Worcester.
An eight-week art trail brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice from 22 July, Vandemoortele’s penguin sculpture will be brought to life by an artist’s design and auctioned at the end of the project to raise vital funds for the charity.
Mark Parton, Site Manager at Vandemoortele Worcester, said: “We’re passionate about what we do here and believe everyone’s everyday food should be about everyday enjoyment. When we heard about 80 penguins making every day fun in Worcester next summer we knew we had to get on board!
“As a company whose values are at the core of everything we do, we’re also delighted to be supporting St Richard’s Hospice – a very special place serving the local community.”
The trail begins on Monday, 22 July and runs until Sunday, 15 September 2024. Forty large and forty small fibreglass penguin sculptures will bring a splash of colour to Worcester’s streets and public spaces to form an interactive art trail.
Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We’ve loved meeting the team at Vandemoortele, who are as passionate about having fun as they are about food.
“Sponsoring a penguin is a brrr-illiant way to bring people together in an organisation and we know the Vandemoortele team will have hours of enjoyment out on the trail next summer.”
