Description

Did you know that a penguin has no sweet taste buds? Although ice cream isn’t widely available in the Arctic, it’s crazy that they wouldn’t be able to enjoy such sweet delights. To combat this, the artists thought it was only right to transform their penguin into Sprinkle, a giant sugar-coated ice cream. Trailgoers will likely enjoy a refreshing ice cream when completing the trail in sunny Worcester, so Sprinkle will be the perfect penguin to have a selfie with.

15. The Shambles (rear of St Swithun’s Church)

Nearby to this site you’ll find a quaint old Tudor building known as Queen Elizabeth House, reputed to have hosted Queen Elizabeth I on a royal visit to Worcester in 1575. Local legend states that she waved to crowds from its balcony. Sadly, no evidence exists to corroborate this.

It’s thought more likely that the name stems from a grant made by the Queen to the Trinity Guild whose complex of buildings once occupied the area for a new school room.

15. The Shambles (rear of St Swithun’s Church)

The 1960s saw Worcester take the decision to pull down many of its historical buildings, but 70 years previous to the decade termed by some ‘The sacking of Worcester’, the city authorities took the extraordinary decision to jack the building up and move it on rollers 10 metres to the south when they were widening the road!
